Louisiana State Prison at Angola

Possibly the most extraordinary prison in America today is the State Prison at Angola, about an hour from Baton Rouge, LA.   Warden Burl Cain (author of Cain’s Redemption) hosted Ruth Graham and friends this past weekend, and I was doing the photo work to document the teaching ministry to the inmates. We walked among, talked to, and had fellowship with with life-sentenced murderers, rapists, and other violent criminals. They were like brothers to everyone on the team.

This was my third visit to Angola, and come away each time very moved by the depth of spiritual understanding and true spiritual freedom that these guys have.

Thanks to Ms. Graham and all her friends for all you’ve shared with us here at Angola. It was one of the greatest, if not, the greatest events we’ve had!! The inmates are still talking (it gets really loud when over 5,100 men are talking)about how much they enjoyed and learned from attending the program. Our staff and their families were also blessed by Ms. Graham’s special service presented in the newly dedicated chapel (funded and built entirely by Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse) located in the employee residential area. The raw and inspiring true life stories of personal struggle and journey toward hope of each speaker were riviting. Lives were positively impacted and changed from this opportunity. We sincerely appreciate the patience and generosity of the entire team. Thank you all for helping us to realize Warden Cain’s moral rehabilitation goals!!! Peace.
